Our goal is to lay the Foundation of Learning one block at a time nurturing character, academic growth, and behavioral growth.
We pride ourselves on being a community where all students, parents, and staff are involved in creating a positive, safe, and motivating environment. The Child is our focus. We nurture, challenge, and respect individuals as they grow and learn.
All of our students engage in Art, Music, and Physical Education, as well as our Library program. Technology is also used to enhance the educational experience through classroom iPads.
Amy Sampson, Principal
Amy Sampson became principal of Bessie Coleman on July 1, 2026. She was previously the principal at Letita Carson Elementary for the last 2 years. Prior to that, she was the MTSS instructional coach at Letitia Carson, the dean of students at Letitia Carson, and a teacher at Bessie Coleman. She has worked in education for 23 years.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Point Loma Nazarene University, completed her teaching credential programs at California State University Stanislaus and Fullerton, and holds a Master of Education in Administration from Southern Oregon University.
