Get Involved

We encourage parent and guardian involvement in our school. Parents and guardians can get involved by keeping up with our e-news, volunteering, and joining our PTO. Our school community welcomes your donation of time and efforts.

School Updates for Parents and Guardians

We encourage you to stay up to date with our school news. Information and reminders are sent to parents/guardians via ParentSquare. If you are not receiving emails from us, contact the main office. Resource links for emergency, safety, and inclement weather notifications can be found below.

Bessie Coleman Boosters

The Bessie Coleman Boosters is a parent-run organization that works with building administrators and staff to provide an enriched learning environment for our students. The goal of BCB is to provide staff with the best opportunity to give students the most fulfilling elementary school experience possible.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities at our school. Many teachers love to have classroom help. There are almost always projects available in the Volunteer Center. You can accompany your child on school field trips. And, of course, there are many wonderful PTO events: Fun Run, Read-a-Thon, Sock Hop, Auction, Carnival, and more! Your participation is welcomed and appreciated!

All volunteers must fill out the online application and pass a criminal background check before they can volunteer. Contact the main office if you have any questions.

Once you are approved, you will have a yellow badge made that will hang in the front office. Visitors (who come to have lunch with a student or to attend a special event in a classroom) must also sign in at the office. There is a volunteer computer in the office where you can sign in as a visitor or a volunteer. If you need help with how this works, please ask in the office upon arrival.

Please visit the district website to complete the online volunteer application and background check.
